Candidate availability moves week to week. What does not move is the screening: the certifications below are what decide whether someone can be badged onto your site at all.
Understanding different hiring levels
The levels are separated by what the state allows a person to do unsupervised, not by how good they are. Hiring the wrong level is the most common and most expensive mistake on a trade requisition.

Productive under supervision and cheap, but they cannot be left on a task the state licenses, and they need someone qualified with them.

- ✕Cannot trade as a business without a contractor licence, insurance and usually a bond

C-10 licensing governs the business. DIR governs covered electricians' certification and training status. A business needs a C-10 license for electrical jobs of $1,000 or more in labor and materials, or any job that needs a permit or uses employees. Cal/OSHA duties remain with the employer.

Rates by sector
Budget for the electrical assignment using these national employee benchmarks alongside California wage requirements.
Utility System Construction
Utility structures bring electrical crews alongside civil work. Screen for relevant equipment experience and plan safe access around trenches and deliveries.
Nonresidential Building Construction
Building projects require electricians who read coordinated plans. Ask candidates to explain conduit routing, inspection readiness and handover to other trades.
